Green Lake, another marvelous destination in North of Sikkim. Its obvious treks in Sikkim still has not gained maturity that is why this incredible trek is still have not been in the limelight.Adranaline rush exist in this trek since it has been given the trek grade moderate to strenuous. Green Lake Trek includes the highest altitude of 5500m whereas camping altitude will be 4935m only.

 Reaching the altitudes consist of relaxing villages, moving ahead green hills,rhythemic flow of river and traversing foothills of mighty Khanchenjunga Range. Well balanced wildlife exists here. Varieties of flora & fauna such as rhododendron & high altitude plants. Birdwatchers will definitely benefit from this trek. April to May and October to November seems to have best weather to embrace visitors in this trek area. Days Activities
01. Bagdogra - Gangtok (1547 m) Arrival at Bagdogra airport. Drive to Gangtok along the river Teesta, through the Sikkim-Bengal border town of Rangpo. The drive takes about 4 hours. Transfer to hotel. Overnight at Gangtok.
02. Gangtok City tour of Gangtok which includes the famous Rumtek Monastery, Enchey Monastery, Institute of Tibetology and also time for accquiring the necessary trekking permits etc. Overnight at Gangtok.
03. Gangtok–Lachen (2700 m) The drive to Lachen from Gangtok is covered by jeep along the North Sikkim highway and takes about 6-7 hours. Over night at Lachen.
04. Lachen – Jakthang (3300 m) Follow the main North Sikkim highway to Thangu and we reach the junction of the Lachen Chu and the Zemu Chu at Zema. After crossing the Zemu Chu, we proceed westward up the Zemu valley following a trail through the forest. Before Jakthang the path crosses the Lhonak Chu. Jakthang is situated in a small meadow where we camp for the night. (5-6 hours approx)
05. Jakthang – Yabuk (3850 m) The trek to Yabuk climbs through the forest and after three hours of steady walking we reach the snout of the Zemu Glacier usually by lunch time. Overnight at camp for acclimatisation. (4-5 hours approx)
06. Yabuk- Rest Camp (4500m) The trek now follows the Zemu glacier.The trail is mainly over boulders and in parts is indistinct.The Zemu Chu rushes through the glacier and as the valley opens up the great peaks come into view. The Rest Camp is situated right opposite Siniolchu and has a fabulous view of one of the most beautiful mountains in Sikkim. Blue sheep and the Bharal is often sighted on the hills opposite the Rest Camp. (4-5 hours approx) Walk slowly as the sir gets thinner and acclimatization becomes of essence.
07. Rest Camp - Green Lake (5050m) The trek from Rest Camp climbs gently up the valley. The walk is usually slow because of the altitude.On a clear morning this is one of the finest treks in the Himalayas.Mount Siniolchu, Simvo, Twins and the Khangchendzonga are some of the giants that dominate the horizon. The camp is on a grassy flat known as the Green Lake Plain, the name derived from a small tarn at the eastern end where on a clear morning the reflection of the Mount Khanchendzonga is seen in the waters. Overnight at Camp. (3-4 hours approx)
08. Rest day at the Green Lake Spend the day lazing in the sunshine watching the peaks. The hill behind the camp which is an hours walk is a perfect pont to see the magnificent views of the Khanchendzonga and the valley below.Zemu gap that links the Zemu valley to the Talung valley is clearly seen from this hight point. Overnight at camp.
09. Green Lake - Yabuk The trek back to Yabuk is much easier as because it is mostly downhill. Overnight at Camp. ( 4-5 hours approx)
10. Yabuk- Jakthang-Zema Trek to Jakthang. Overnight at Camp. (5-6 hours)
11. Zema - Lachen Drive to Lachen and transfer to the hotel/lodge. Overnight at Lachen. (5-6 hours)
12. Lachen- Gangtok Drive from Lachen to Gangtok. Trek ends.
