Dzongri Trek
Dzongri Trek, is the classic trek of Sikkim which holds historical importance for Sikkimese. Like, other treks the trails of this trek unleash serene beauty of nature. Dzongri stands at an elevation of 4200m. Dzongri Trek starts from Yuksom which is again one of important ideal for Sikkimese and literally it means “Meeting Place of Three Lamas” .
The grade of this trek is easy too moderate but suitable for the trekkers having time constraint. Existence of snowy mountains on the trail makes the trek exciting retaining Khanchendzonga as the major attraction. Sikkim has spread the great density of wildlife and Dzongri offers a part of it with dense mixed jungle with oak, chest-nut, pine, magnolia, rhododendron, ferns and several varieties of orchids, brightly colored birds, spectacular butterflies and the occasional monkey. For Religious belief Dzongri enfolds monasteries like Dubdi monastery, "the hermit’s cell" and monastery in Tshoka village near by a lake embrace different values yet attractive. Wild Yeti has scheduled March to June or August to November as best timings to hit this trek . Safety of the clients is the greatest concern of Wild Yeti so it is advised to our client to take necessary precaution or to follow the safety tips from Wild Yeti to avoid the danger against temperature as Dzongri might have temperature below freezing point. Days Activities 01. Pick up at Bagdogra/New Jalpaiguri railway station.Drive to Gangtok. 126kms. 5 Hrs. Transfer to hotel. O/N at hotel. 02. Full Days sightseeing in and around Gangtok and time to prepare trekking permits etc. O/N at hotel. 03. After breakfast drive to Yuksom. 139 kms, 6 hrs. Alt, 1,700m. Transfer to your designated hotel. Overnight at Yuksam. 04. Trek begins. Trek from Yuksom to Tsokha. 12 kms, 6 hrs,alt. 3000 m. O/N at camp. 05. Trek from Tsohka to Dzongri, 9kms., 5 hrs., alt. 4000m.O/N at camp. 06. Excrusion of Dzongri alt.4,500m.O/N at camp. 07. Dzongri -Halt. Dzongri La alt.4,500m. (Acclimatization) Halt. 08. Trek back to Tsokha. O/N at camp. 09. Trek back from Tsokha to Yuksam. Transfer to hotel. O/N at Yuksam. 10. Drive Yuksam to Darjeeling via Pelling. On the way visit Pemayangtse monastery.Transfer to hotel. O/N at hotel. 11. Early morning visit Tiger Hill for sunrise. On the way back visit Yiga Choling Monastery. After breakfast visit the Mountaineering Institute, Padmaja Zoological Park, Tibetan Self Help Centre and a Tea garden. O/N at hotel. 12. Drive to Bagdogra for onward journey.
