Tilman was involved in two of the 1930s Mount Everest expeditions - participating in the 1935 Reconnaissance Expedition, and reaching 27,200 feet without oxygen as the expedition leader in 1938. Langtang is located to the north, outside of the Kathmandu valley; south of Tibet.. Langtang region is the third-most popular trekking region in Nepal. This gracious, beautiful and lush green Langtang valley is populated by Sherpas and Tamang communities. The valley is surrounded by high peaks of great appeal. This trek is popularly known as “Langtang Valley trek”, which passes through Langtang National Park. Right from Kathmandu starts Shivapuri mountain trek and followed by Helambu Valley, Gosaikunda, Ganjala Pass and Langtang Valley. Popular places of Langtang trekking are Kyanjing Gompa and Tserko Ri. Trekkers who reach Kyanjing Gompa will make a day excursion to Tserko Ri from where they can enjoy the best view of Himalayas. The three major areas are Langtang, Gosainkunda and Helambu and these can be combined in many different ways to make trek from 9 to 19 days long. From Gosaikunda and Helambu, you can see the panoramic view of Mt. Manaslu, Gourisankar and many more shining peaks . In Tibetan meaning, Lang = Yak, Tang = follow. So, then follow the Yak. Obviously Yaks still share your experience while trekking. Gosainkunda is holy a lake for Hindus. Annually thousands of Hindu devotees from India and Nepal visit Gosainkunda.
