Everest by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Sherpa, Everest region holds an inexplicable fascination for all people making it one of the most popular trekking regions in Nepal. Sagarmatha National Park (officially gazetted in 1976) enclosed by the Everest region (Upper Khumbu) is the world’s highest altitude national park, listed as a world heritage site. The Everest or the Upper Khumbu region closes within its fold the highest wildlife reserve in the world, the Sagarmatha National Park. This park has been listed as an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. It has gained its popularity in preserving high altitude plants and animals. The number of people visiting the national park is rising steadily from 5,000 visitors in 1981, 10,000 in 1990, 17,000 in 2000 and approximately 25,000 visitors in 2008 (McGuinness J., 2009).
Trekking in this Everest region takes you on captivating passage wherein you can unfurl the hidden splendours of the Everest region, from the rhododendron forests to the pine forests, from the snow fed rivers to spectacular glaciers, from the lucid lakes to high passes and from the vibrant Sherpa villages to the charming Buddhist monasteries. Trekking this region not only gives you the opportunity to get a close view of the world’s highest mountain peak, the Everest, but also offers you splendid sights of other peaks such as Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Tawache and many other unnamed peaks. The clear blue sky above your head and the green turf beneath your feet, spectacular Mountain View and cross the Himalaya close to high altitude lake and glacier, trekkers dream come true here in nature-blessed wonderful Sherpa -land! You really explore your adventure here. After you reach Lukla (airport) your destination begins to cross Khongma-la pass (5535m) and you expect to cross Cho -la pass (5430m) when you cross chola pass then you come across with those amazingHimalayan passes at the end crossing Renjo La and come back safe with unforgettable memories and life time experience. This trekking route is relatively easier. After you land on lukla airport from kathmandu, you’ll have short trek to namche bazaar. Then you reach to tyanboche where there is a very popular tengboche monastry. Situated at 3,867 metre (12, 687 ft.), the monastry is the largest gompa in the khumbu region. The monastry was built in 1916 by lama guru with significant link with the tibetan monastry named “rongbuk monastry”. You reach the khumjung village, cetury old sherpa settlement, a dense himalayan village. You will realize the full culture, tradition and history of the popular sherpas of nepal.
Everest Region Trekking
The Everest or the Khumbu region is probably the most popular of all the mountain trekking in the world; may be because here is the Mount Everest, the highest peak on earth. Populated by the Sherpas, the attraction of this area are the majestic mountains, the high mountain villages, charming monasteries and the congenial people. Besides Mt. Everest (8,848 m.), this region includes many other peaks of altitude 8000 meters and above; such as Lhotse, Cho Oyo and Makalu.This is characterized as cultural trek since the trekkers in this route will be with popular monasteries,, prayers flags, Mani walls, sacred stones...Sherpa’s trading trails and the Himalayan traders market- Namche Bazaar. The Himalayan traders and the Yak caravans meet at the colourful Market of the Sherpas- the Namche Bazaar.
Although overshadowed by Lobuche, Kalapatthar and the Everest Base Camp trekking, the Gokyo valley offers great trekking and exploring adventures.Gokyo Lake lies at the altitude of 4750m. Besides world famous mountains, this pristine lake is another key factor making khumbu region wealthy of nature. Passing through the cho la (5430m) and reach to Everest base camp.5364m with Kalapatther 5555m.
